National Year of Reading : May theme – Escape

Where do you escape in your reading? Do you escape into what you are reading? Do you escape because of where you are reading? Do you read to escape from what else is happening around you? What is your greatest reading escape?

Your great reading escape may be reading about amazing landscapes which you would like to escape to, or at least imagine escaping to. It may be about escaping from work, escaping into other people’s memoirs, or escaping into great meals. It may be game related reading (or reading within games), it may be gaol break inspired reading or many other ways of reading about escape.

Come to the library to have a browse through the ‘Escape’ display for May (located at the end of the reference section in the middle of the library). Here’s a sample of some of the books on display:

  • Escape from Year Eight by Anna & Mary Pershall
  • Daughter of Venice by Donna Jo Napoli
  • The Declaration by Gemma Malley
  • Alek : Sudanese refugee to international supermodel by Alek Wek
  • The Great Escape from City Zoo by Tohby Riddle

All of these books may be borrowed or come and find your own book to escape into!
