Have you organised your holiday reading?

Now is a great time to come to the library to grab some great books for the holidays.  Many books have been returned in the last few days so now is the time to come in, have a browse and take your pick of what interests you.

Students may borrow books for the 2 week September/October school holidays. Also, this week, don’t forget to renew books you wish to keep over the holidays and return all books you no longer need by the end of this week.

Come to the library to see the new books currently on display (which may be borrowed this Friday).  Some of the new titles on display include:

  • Fire in the Sea by Myke Bartlett– “Sadie is sixteen and bored with life in Perth. It’s summer, and lazing on thebeach in the stifling heat with her cousins and Tom is a drag. Then something comes out of the sea. Dark menacing forms attack an old man, leaving him for dead and Sadie wracking her brains to understand what she saw. Then there’s a mysterious inheritance, a strange young man called Jake and a horned beast trampling the back yard. At the centre of it all is an ancient relic that has the power to save her city, or destroy the world, but the relic has been stolen. Sadie finds herself catapulted into a centuries-old conflict on the brink of a final, terrible showdown, and time is running out.”  Winner of the Text Prize for Young Adult and Children’s Writing, 2011.
  • A variety of new manga titles are available including Spirited Away, xxxHolic and The Gentlemen’s Alliance.
  • Silhouette by Thalia Kalkipsakis
  • Variant by Robison Wells
  • A range of non-fiction titles including Alexander McQueen :  a genius of a generationAustralia’s mining boom, edited by Justin Healey; Human trafficking and slavery, edited by Justin Healey; The Sydney Harbour Bridge : a life.
