Winner of the 2012 Miles Franklin Award announced

The 2012 winner of the prestigious Miles Franklin Literary Award is Anna Funder for her novel, All That I Am.

The August 2012 issue of U: (a publication from U.T.S) features an interview with Anna Funder, who formed the creative component of the book whilst completing a Doctor of Creative Arts degree at the university. In the interview with Funder, she provides the following advice to writing students,  “…keep going. What you are doing will sort itself out, one way or another. Be brave, look closely and tell the truth. Or your little splinter of it. The form will follow what it is you have to say. And in the end, this thing will exist in the world that didn’t before. It’s an important kind of magic.”
